I'm currently working on my own site, and I'll be blogging there as soon as I get it up. I need some Rails practice, anyways.

I'll be posting the link here whenever I finish this guy up. I expect it finished by the end of the year.

Short Stories

Earlier today, my brother sent a link to me of a story by an artist named Charity Larrison. I love short stories that force you to think; where upon reaching the end, all you do is go "Woah." The artist has done a couple other stories like this one, all of which I find to be of equal qualities. I suppose I should also give more credit to the people who wrote the great stories. However, conveying them so well in art make the stories what they are.

And on the topic of stories of that nature, Karen Luk is an artist that I found at random a while back, who produced some very good short comics too. They are in a similar style of storytelling, and are definitely worth checking out.

And to finish up, there are some great little comics on viruscomix.com. The only reason I'm commenting on that is to bring attention to this one. And that's where the philosohpy comes in. I love cynics; psychological egoism is the only form of ethical theory that makes sense. I also found the comics megamix to contain some fun reads.

There are probably more to come. I have comics bookmarked out the wazoo. Cheers.

about:blog

I've been told it's good practice for an artist to keep a blog, almost like a second journal. This causes two problems: first, this is the internet. Second, lets face it, the only interesting things directly about a person's life are extremely personal. Online journals are only for the self-desctructive.

Instead, this will probably be populated by artsy articles, with splashes of philosophy, and then some other miscellany. I sporadically have worthless design-oriented epiphanies worth sharing, and I come up with awkward perspectives for equally worthless arguments since I love being the devil's advocate a little too much. I also have serious opinions about art's place in video games; a futile debate.

On the more practical side, I have a strong interest in character interaction and development and how stories are told and conveyed. As a result, I'll probably be posting a lot on design, creativity, and storytelling, as well as my own musings involving my own story ideas and the characters populating them. As for myself, I'm a Digital Media major with a CS minor and a Studio Art minor at UCF in Orlando, Florida. That's right, I enjoy wasting my life.

Enjoy the blog.
